Welcome to our High Ability Blog!
My name is Mrs. Peterson. I'm so happy to be back at Jackson! Before staying home last year, I was an aide at Jackson for a few years. Prior to that, I spent a lot of time volunteering at school. I am familiar with many students and families. I am absolutely thrilled to be working with your student this year!
After graduating from Purdue Northwest, I taught elementary school in Indiana and Southern California. Fun fact: In the late 1990's, I taught High Ability at Brummitt and Yost. So, I am returning to familiar territory, and it feels great! I had a second career in outside sales working for an automotive oil distributor selling bulk oil and automotive lubricants to car dealerships, quick lubes, and repair shops. After spending some time at home with my two daughters, I was excited to return to elementary education. This is where I belong.
Both of my daughters went to Jackson and were in High Ability. They are currently students at Liberty Intermediate and Chesterton Middle School. My husband, two daughters, and I live in Jackson Township. We have a giant English mastiff and a little Yorkshire terrier. The mastiff is a total dreamboat. The Yorkie is a real stinker. During those long months of lockdown in 2020, we added two gerbils to our family. That makes two adults, two tweens, two dogs, and two gerbils in our home. Our names are Andy, Kara (that's me), Georgia, June, Roscoe, Willy Pickles, Jerry, and Polly.
It's going to be a great year!
